"Ikigai" is a Japanese concept that translates to "reason for being" and is the magical culmination of your passions, talents and the world's needs.
Hi, I'm Fiona! I'm a 44 year old (young!) professional living in Sydney with my incredible partner and our dogson Henry. I'm a university-qualified graphic designer of 24 years, I LOVE what I do because I'm paid to be creative! Who am I? Let's see. I've always done things differently to most other people and have never seen the need to 'fit in'. If you believe in astrology I'm a true Aquarian, if you don't you could say that I'm eccentric, empathetic and philanthropic.
Okay, but who am I really? I love roller skating, I love my little rescue dog Henry, I love Disney, I wish I could shop in the kids section of clothing stores (but alas, I have curves), I'm curious about people, what they do, why they do it and what they think and feel. I'm a hopeless romantic, a certified word-smith, a qualified TEFL English teacher, and overall I'm motivated by my life's purpose, not by my bank account balance.
Ikigai Girl Studio came about after my fourth trip to Japan in 2024. It was as if my soul aligned with my heart and head, and I knew it was time to work on projects that resonate with my ikigai. It was then that Ikigai Girl Studio was born.

Partner with
Ikigai Girl

I have finally found the reason I was born and it's an incredible feeling! I have finally found the work that keeps me up late at night, that wakes me up early in the morning and that keeps me working - because it doesn't feel like work. It feels like purpose. It feels like motivation. It feels like my heart is full. It feels like unwavering confidence. Now all that is left for me to do is to make a difference to people's lives.
As such, Ikigai Girl is currently looking to partner with organisations or groups that aid Japanese orphans, senior citizens or communities in Australia or Japan. We would love to connect with any groups that could benefit from a partnership - especially if we can trade textiles or Japanese handicrafts. If you or someone you know would like to discuss more, please contact us here.
